Birth of the Foundation:
Abhishek Shrestha, Founder of the Nepal Cricket Foundation while studying Masters at the University of Sussex in 2012 got selected to play for Sussex University Men’s 1st Team. He always dreamt of playing at English ground since childhood, playing in England was his childhood dream come true.
While Playing for Sussex 1st Team, he met Angus Berry, CEO of Connecting Clubs International who also played for the Sussex 1st Team. While his time in England, Shrestha got an opportunity to play against different teams on different grounds.
He played as a registered international player under English and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and played for one of the oldest cricket Club in the world, Firle, founded in 1758. At Present Firle plays in Sussex League Division 6 East. Cricketing culture and strong grass root cricket in England mesmerized him and motivated for the development of cricket in Nepal.
After completing his Masters from the University of Sussex he returned back to Nepal in 2013 with a thought of developing grass root cricket in Nepal.
Angus, CEO of Connecting Clubs and Abhishek had an initial conversation in 2015 to build a partnership, using Cricket as a tool for community development, educating people on social issues and strengthening grass root cricket in Nepal.
Abhishek and Angus, vision to work for cricket development led to the birth of Nepal Cricket foundation at the end of 2016.
